.....GOVERNANCE NOT A GREY HAIR AFFAIR........

Tiv people say "ka ahu a hingir Ikyon ye "meaning it is the shrubs that grows to become trees. It is becoming a slogan used by public speakers that youths are the leaders of tomorrow. This assertion never comes to pass because in Nigeria, tomorrow never comes. perhaps, this accounts for the unending recycling of outdated policians with posthumous ideas, men and women who have ruled and ruind this country in various capacities, men who have rape the integerity of this country internationally; men and who have turn Nigria into a businees empire where what is not the quota they contribute in baking the national cake but the chunk they cart away with.
To turn a new tail, this country needs the services of everybody. the youth to be precise can not be relegated to the background. At the age of 12 Jesus baffled his audience in the temple with his intelligent answers to thier questions. former miss world, Agani Darego, impressed the whole world with the level of intelligence she exibited when she was anwering the questions given to her, late Captain Thomas Sankara in his mid twenties governed Bukinafaso from 4/8/83-15/10/87 very well and was able to prove a point to thoseunderstimated his leadership that Bukinafaso was not a passing phenomenon.
"It is an African reality, a product of hard strugle against international injustice in which our people have been wageing war for years"Age is nothing but mere figure or number. Erstwhlile youngest president of America Bill Clinton 46 when he was the presindent made indellible milestone in American history that will never be equaled in a hurry. No man irrespective of age has monopoly of knowledge.
The usage of age as a tool of intimidation to sheme-out a large population of this country out of leadership is uncalled for, unacceptable and must be resisted with all vehemence. Governance is not, and should not be about age.
If at the age of 18, one is wise enough to vote, then he is wise enough to be voted for. The 1979 constitution state age limit for House of Representatives and Senate as 21 and 25 respectively, then why should the 1999 constitution carryout such an assult by placing an escalating age difference of 30 and 35 for Reps and Senate? why the sinister increase in the age and not in the certificate?
In the last FIFA Worldcup ( JAP/KOR 2002) The coaches that made it to the last four were youngest in the tournament, beating the likes of Maldini 72 of Italy, Bora Millutinovic 64 for China, Sven Goran Erekksson for Egland and a Host of others. Governance is not about grey hairs. We need an open Political play field. Chief Zebrudaya in his world said, "Let foul perch, let toro-toro perch...." . The National Assembly should reverse this trend and allow the youth to participate in the political process rather than offering them up for political thuggery and voilence.
Without dout, the work of governing this country would have been alot of easier, crisis- free, more progressive if the government will seriously paintakingly devote itself to the task of developing the youth rather than money-making through fair or foul means. Recycline of the same people the new dispensation is another clog in the progress of this country. Even the Bible discourage putting of new wine the old skin. For goodness sake, are the likes of Danjuma, Ciroma, Anni, who serve the government again from 1999 till 2006 and the groups of Jolly Nyame, Akume George, Cimaroke Nnamani, and host other ex-Governors who never made any meaninful contribution to the developemnt to thier various states as Governors are now our law makers, can you imagine that how do you think we can move foward.
